Modeling: Breaking Into the Biz
Looking to break into the modeling biz wasn’t always Tyra’s dream, but became a passion after all the research dedication. Is modeling YOUR dream? Here are some of Tyra’s tips on how to prepare for your modeling career.
1. Pick a favorite model and study them. Everything from the way they turn their head to their fierce runway walk.
2. Snapshots. You MUST have a beauty shot - from the neck up - before going anywhere. Have a friend with a nice camera take one in black and white! Check out an example of Tyra's beauty shot to the right.
3. Study, Study, Study. As Tyra always says on America’s Next Top Model, you need to know everything from fashion designers, photographers, supermodels, and all in between.

I would love to, do anything to, learn all the right faces to make whenever a snapshot photo is being taken of me. I am in a modelling competition for my university and we are going to be judged by how we do the catwalk. I dont want to do boring poses at the end, but at the same time, i dont want to go too overboard, for its a university competition. I would do anything to be a model. I'd drop it all and move to beautiful sunny Los Angeles any second.

Where do Medium sized women like me come into play? we all know of the what everyone seems to believe 'perfect" size zero model. The Beautiful size zero model has been around sense modeling its self and recently you yourself have stood up and made a statement for the plus sized women to be recognized as being beautiful also . But what about me? I am not a size zero! I am not a size 15! I am an 8-9 and i want to be recognized as beautiful too . Tyra i know i have what it takes to be the wonderful model you are looking for, but where do i ever fit in ?

I have this portfolio with modeling pics of me and I have submitted to commercial agencies and the reason why commercial is because im to short im only 5"3 and I dont ever seem to get a responce back or anything from anyone and im trying to find out if there is something wrong with my photos, is there any way you can help me Tyra? :-( I really need help...

I had to pull my baby out of a modeling contest today. They deleted all of her votes because they came from the same IP;but told 3 other non-black contestants they could use the same IP address. Next Direct is a company ... moreI had to pull my baby out of a modeling contest today. They deleted all of her votes because they came from the same IP;but told 3 other non-black contestants they could use the same IP address. Next Direct is a company from the UK. They did not have any children of color in their competition last year& because my babies fan base was 500+;they disqualified her. Please help me Tyra,we need to do away with PREJUDICE-UNLEARN:)

I know u have had shows about the Do's and Don't s of agencies etc, I am unemployed right now, my son is interested in acting in such shows like Wizards of Waverly, Suite life...So we went to the appt, of course they said it cost for the pics, thye an amout for outfits, we did 2 outfits for these composite cards, its going to cost me for the copyrights of the slides and post the pics online for jobs, what should i do

All the models i see have AMAZING skin, and as i suffer with a slight case of acne, i cant seem to get that perfect look they all have. Are modeling agencies always looking for people with amazing skin? Or do i actually ... moreAll the models i see have AMAZING skin, and as i suffer with a slight case of acne, i cant seem to get that perfect look they all have. Are modeling agencies always looking for people with amazing skin? Or do i actually stand a chance? I have tried everything to clear my face, but nothing as of yet is doing the job. So at the moment, its Photoshop for me! :)

im only 14 im not tall or relly skiny im about avrage hight and waite, so my question is do you need to me those things to be a model? allso evry model i see have long eye lashes and i dont.
I want to know how much of a turn off pimples are for agencies. Do all models have amazing skin? I try so hard to have clear skin, but no matter what I do, I can never get rid of my pimples. BUT now i am eager to get into the business Im part of an agency but its doing nothing for me and im also scared im going to lose all my time by trying to get into the biz. Is there a way, at 17 to juggle college and getting into the business or should i jsut keep dreaming?
