Yesima and Herbert met three years ago working for an urban lifestyle magazine in Brooklyn, New York. She couldn't help noticing him every time he walked by her desk. They've been together a little over a year, but if you ask Herbert, it feels like they've been connected since the day they met. They finish each other's sentences, they constantly laugh, love to kiss and they even show up wearing the same colors. A plan? No. Kismet.--Joicelyn Dingle
Tyra.com: What attracted you to the other when you first met?
Herbert: Without a doubt, her shoes, the ‘learn-Japanese’ podcast on her shared music, and her mystical intrigue.

Yesima: Herbert is a huge ball of energy. But when we worked together, he'd always make his presence known in subtle ways. After a few months of small talk, I'd go to my desk to find hangman notes, doodles, flowers. It was fresh.
What look/style do you most like to see your partner in?
Herbert: "Out-of-state." When we go outside of New York, we're chiilin', her look is more relaxed. I like to see her in whatever she decides, it's always interesting but it feels different when we're away.

Yesima: He wears his button downs with sweaters, vests and sport jackets. I love when they come off, he rolls up the cuffs and has this sexy relaxed, yet still tailored look.

What's the best date you've been on together?
Herbert: New York AIDS Walk 2009. The energy was so great. There was no pretension in the air from anyone. We were there for a purpose and it felt so good to be there with her.

Yesima: Herbert took me to Atlanta for my birthday this year. We had dinner at the rotating Sun Dial overlooking the city. Then he took me further north in Georgia where we rode horses (my horse was a serious renegade!), and then caught a movie at a drive-in. It still feels like we were there just yesterday.
What's 'poppin' about your relationship?
Herbert: Our uncanny ability to comment on each other's thoughts—before they're spoken!
Yesima: It happened so easily! I know Herbert so well now I can tell what he'll say or do. And he still amazes me all the time.
Who's your favorite celeb couple?
Herbert: Douglas 'Doug' Funnie & Patricia 'Patti' Mayonnaise. [Doug and Patti are animated characters on the Nickolodean cartoon, Doug. Doug, 11 1/2years old, really digs Patti, whose a little older. He even sits under tree and sings songs about her on his banjo. She thinks he's cool, but she's a little too busy to get into him!]
Yesima: Taylor Swift and Taylor from Twilight! They look like fun. He's parading around with her in an Audi R8 at 17... stop playing!

When we first started seeing each other my husband lived in New Orleans and I in California but after months of communication and our initial meeting we ended up getting married and it has been the best decision I have ever made. Long distance relationships cannot stay long distance. Eventually, someone is going to have to be willing to relocate or it's just not going to work. I chose to relocate and I gained the love of my life. :) Best of luck to u.
