Paris Fashion Week: The NOT SO Skinny
This has been the year for the curvy! After years of criticism and talk about models being too skinny, designers are finally starting to respond. Last week’s Paris Fashion Week had many curvy ladies strutting their stuff. From Victoria Secret Angel, Adriana Lima - her first time back since her child’s birth in November 2009 - to fellow VS model, Alessandra Ambrosio (who's also going to be featured in Glamour with Fiercely Real model, Crystal Renn). Not only are these ladies on the curvy side, but they also are both 28 years old! Which is an almost unheard of age for high-fashion modeling.
The appearance of curvy women wasn’t an accident. Marc Jacobs made a statement saying "Designers are always talking about how they design for women, and then you look at our runways and there [are] no girls over 20. This time, I set out to cast a variety of sexy women -- younger, older, thin, voluptuous, from every ethnic background." I wonder if this was Marc’s pledge to the B.I.O. (Beauty Inside & Out) Campaign…

yes they are, but it will take a while until they are accepted as equals to regular models. It will also take a while for them to adjust to this idea.

I wish that there was an ANTM show for women who are a little older. I have enjoyed her show for years and always wanted to apply but it seems I don't make the cut due to age. I am now 29 but age is just a number to me ... moreI wish that there was an ANTM show for women who are a little older. I have enjoyed her show for years and always wanted to apply but it seems I don't make the cut due to age. I am now 29 but age is just a number to me. I did small modeling jobs when I lived in New Jersey when I was in my early 20's. I loved it so much and wish I can start again. It is a hard market, especially when you begin to get up there in years. Tyra is just the person who can bring beauty and confidence back to women who are grown and also might have children as well. Tyra, if you can hear me, give me a chance!

I think its just the beginning of this, Still all i see is in fashiopn magazine the same old skinny girl that looks like sje hasnt eaten in weeks covered in plasters of makeup.

I felt out of place in my own family. Now at 21, and HEALTHY size 6 (not zero), it is nice. Women are beautiful because of the curves we have, embrace it!

I now have a two year old and for the first time in my life I am the "correct" weight for my height. It discourages me to see the half starved girls that I see in the industry, but I am healthy and that is what matters to me. Adriana looks about the same weight as I am now and that makes me feel like I can do it. In my opinion she is still skinny and shouldn't be considered "curvy" though! Alot of the women in the industry look sick, this should be what SEXY is! She looks amazing!
