I have a confession. Despite having a public life, poppin’ my own collar doesn’t really come easy for me. But I'll let you in on what I've learned. It's simple; just because poppin’ collars doesn’t always feel natural, doesn’t mean it’s not something important for our self-esteem to do. (Check me out talking about this a little bit more in this month’s webisode.)
Wait, let me take this back. Do y’all know what I mean when I say Poppin’ Collars? It’s a slang term coolly thrown around by the “hot” set (think Jay Z or Lady Gaga) that often means swagger, style and showing off. Poppin' collars can definitely be those things, but for me—and for the entire team at Tyra.com—we are redefining (You know how we do around here!) the catchy phrase to be more about confidence and about claiming and celebrating success. (Even the smallest accomplishments = success.)
In the Poppin’ Collars issue, I hope you will be inspired by our lists of high profile of "collar poppers," because while no one we cover thinks of themself as anywhere near perfect, one thing is sure. They all know what it means to hold their head up, to pat themselves on the back and to be in love with their very best self!
So if you're the type who goes out of your way to make sure no one ever thinks you're arrogant, or if you walk around feeling so humble most of the time you barely give yourself credit—GET OVER IT! This is the time to proudly pop them collars, y’all!
As rapper Drake says, “Shortie, you the BEST!” (I heart that song!)
Fierce & Love,
TyTy

But I plan to continue to fight regardless because my family is counting on me to beat this once again. But I am conflicted, because I cannot work, and although I have disability it will probably not last through next year, and with other financial problems, I even wonder if I will be able to stay in my home or if I will have medical to get me through the next round of Chemotherapy but I fight.
