"My Real Hair. Finally."
Here I am in a beautiful island villa with my Bankable team back in June. I always love how crinkly and wild my hair looks when I first take out my braids. (Weave/wig wearers, are you with me?) These shots capture the moment I decided it was about time to reveal my real hair. (I even a took "kitchen" pic, you know, the kinky nape of the neck fuzz a lot of African American women have.) I figured the decision to show my hair might become a big deal later, but at the time it wasn’t--I just knew I was ready to show more of the real me. (Of course Oscar, my hairstylist, was like, ‘Girl, it’s time for a trim.’)

It took me years to embrace my hair. Friends used to call me "Scary Spice" and it would drive me crazy, as if being Scary Spice were a bad thing. Now I'm learning to embrace my curly hair. I still have my moments where I wish my hair was naturally sleek and straight, but at the end of the day I love what I have because it's what my parents gave me. It's big and soft and curly and 100% natural!
Most importantly though is to remember what India Arie said: I am not my hair, I am not my skin, I am a soul that lives within.

Tyty why the sad face, isn't b'cos u are showing your real hair or what. U have a very nice hair and i think you should leave it like that without wigs. Continue to be real girl
